World You Like Challenge: Three European finalists announced!
Three finalists out of the 10 European projects that received the highest number of votes in the World you like Challenge have now been chosen after a thorough assessment. The overall European winner selected by the Sustainia Award Committee will be announced at the Sustainia Award Ceremony in Copenhagen on 7 November.
The three finalists, who will be invited to the Sustainia Award Ceremony, are:
Airport Carbon Accreditation:
This voluntary programme provides a framework for airports to increase their energy efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.
Low energy houses for everyone:
This Polish housing project combines low-cost techniques to reduce energy consumption with traditional Polish building style.
Sown Biodiverse Pastures:
This Portuguese project not only increases pastures’ productivity but also reduces CO2 emissions, erosion and the risk of wild fires.
The winner will be given the chance to produce a professional video about their project and will receive media support to promote the project.
The Award Committee of our campaign partner Sustainia consists of EU Commissioner for Climate Action Connie Hedegaard, former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Norwegian prime minister Gro Harlem Brundtland and the Chair of the UN’s climate panel Dr. Rajendra Pachauri.
The World You Like Challenge invited the most creative minds from across the EU to put their low-carbon innovations to the test. More than 236,000 votes from across Europe were cast. To find out who got most votes in your own country, please click on the links below.
