On March 22, 2023, at an official ceremony, the completely renovated building of Second Primary School “Vasil Levski (Base 2) was opened in Shiyakovtsi district, Kostinbrod.

Host of the event – Mrs. Krasimira Manova, director of Second Primary School “Vasil Levski, together with Mr. Traiko Mladenov, mayor of Kostinbrod municipality, Dr. Atanas Tenev, chairman of the municipal council, Mrs. Rositsa Ivanova – head of the Regional Department of Education – Sofia District and Mrs. Galya Vassileva – executive director of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources Fund (EERSF), opened the renovated building of the Second Primary School “Vasil Levski” in the town of Kostinbrod. The project was implemented with financial resources of the Fund worth BGN 441,369. Mrs. Vassileva congratulated the representatives of the municipality of Kostinbrod, stating that it is a privilege for EERSF to participate in the implementation of such a project.She also pointed out that investing in a healthy and comfortable learning environment for children should be a priority for all of us, because it is an investment in the future of our society. With this project, in addition to saving energy, our children will breathe cleaner air and be healthy.

Mrs. Manova, director of the school, shared that in the last 5 years, the number of children studying in the Second Primary School “Vasil Levski has increased by 50%. One of the reasons is the renovated buildings, the comfort and warmth of the learning environment, the qualified teachers and the acquired status of “Innovative School”.

With the implementation of the energy-efficient activities of the present project, the school acquired a new look and a modern vision. Excellent conditions for learning, activities and games are provided for the students. Working conditions for teachers and employees have been improved.

In the educational building, the energy-saving measures (ESM) are: thermal insulation of external walls; thermal insulation of a roof; new gas supply pipeline for natural gas; new heating installation; replacement of the existing boiler with a new, wall-mounted, double-circuit, gas, condensing boiler; gas protection equipment; new circulation pumps. New interior lighting: “Panel” type LED lights, 60/60 cm and new LED floodlights for external installation.

In the gym and workshop ESM are: thermal insulation of external walls; replacement of window frames with new ones; thermal insulation of a roof; new heating installation; new, wall-mounted, single-circuit, gas, condensing boiler. New interior lighting: “Panel” type LED lights, 60/60 cm and new LED floodlights for external installation.

With the municipality’s own funds, the following were completed: newly built and separate sanitary units, a new office for the teachers and the school’s archive.

In 2022, in parallel with Second Primary School “Vasil Levski, EERSF finances energy efficiency measures in First Primary School “Vasil Levski (Base 1) in Kostinbrod, with a credit instrument worth BGN 388,916. The financed ESM are: thermal insulation of external walls; replacement of window frames with new ones; thermal insulation of a roof; thermal insulation of the floor; replacement of an existing boiler with a new automated gas condensing boiler; gas protection equipment, emergency ventilation, new circulation pump; new heating installation. Replacement of all interior lighting fixtures with 60/60 cm LED panels and new LED floodlights for exterior installation.

EERSF has been supporting energy efficiency implementation measures and RES investments for more than 17 years, providing its clients with specialized knowledge and technical assistance in project planning and implementation. The Fund works successfully with municipalities, corporate clients and individuals. One of the most important advantages of EERSF financing is that it enables customers to consume the real benefits in the presence, and the investment is paid for by the energy savings generated in the future.
