On the 14 of October 2012 in the town of Plovdiv, a motivation conference “Implementation of effective mechanisms for achieving local goals 20/20/20” took place. It was organized by Eco Energy – Municipal Energy Efficiency Network, according to the European project “Covenant capacity – building capacity of local authorities for development inclimate changes and sustainable energy planning, actions and monitoring.”

There were discussed and examined the following topics: Covenant of Mayors in Bulgaria, the project Covenant capacity and benefits for municipalities, the project “Energy for Mayors”, the implementation of strategies for sustainable energy development and action plans for sustainable energy, the results of Eco Energy annual competition “Municipalities on their way to energy independence”. There were also presented structural funds for energy efficiency investments, financial instrument Jessica and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources Fund – which provides funding opportunities for energy efficiency projects in Bulgarian municipalities.

For its effective policy on energy efficiency the municipality of Dobrich took first prize for achieving the objectives set out in the Municipal Energy Program 2008-2013 and the implementation of long-term priorities in the plan for sustainable energy development of the municipality “Sustainable Energy Dobrich 2020”.
