World Bank Forum in Washington D.C.
During the last week in Washington D.C. a forum, sponsored by The World bank took place – “Energy days: Many Paths, One goal: Sustainable energy for all”. It focused on the bank’s recent progress on energy and targets regarding energy efficiency and renewable energy.
As EERSF is estimated as World bank’s successful EE project in Eastern Europe, the Executive director – Mr. Dimitar Dukov was invited to present the EERSF activity and results during its 5 year of the Fund’s operation since its establishment. The EERSF presentation was introduced by Mr. Dukov within the panel: “Which Financial Instruments Can Best Leverage Energy Efficiency Financing”.
Other participants in that took part in the panel were representatives from The World Bank- Mr.Issam Abousleiman, Head of banking products & Debt Management; The European Investment Bank – Mrs. Cyrille Arnould, Head of Global EE & RES Fund; EERSF Executive director – Mr. Dukov, China EE financing project at Huaxia bank – Mrs. Miau Liu, Deputy Manager Corporate Banking department, etc.
Speakers shared their experience and discussed lessons learned from various energy efficiency financing instruments, leading to improved capacity and energy savings in the design of future energy efficiency financing projects. The five year of operation of EERSF in Bulgaria turned out of great interest to the participants as they asked additional questions about financing of EE projects, guarantee agreements and opportunities for future financial resources of the Fund.
